Yundera FAQs
Common Asked Questions
Yundera operates across multiple entities depending on your location. We partner with trusted providers like Backblaze and continuously benchmark the market to ensure the best combination of affordability, security, and environmental sustainability. We do not host the server ourselves but carefully select the server provider.
Unlike traditional cloud services, we do not add a margin on storage costs. Instead, we provide storage at the market price we secure through ongoing evaluations. Compute and storage are separate in Yundera—ensuring you only pay for what you need.
If you find a better market price for reliable storage, let us know—we’re always optimizing for the best deal.
When you use AWS, Scaleway, or any other centralized cloud provider, you're renting a piece of their infrastructure. They own the servers, the data centers, and potentially, the power over your data. With Yundera, you host open-source tools on a virtual server that's under your control—not theirs. Your data, your rules. Yundera simplifies the process of owning your server, without the need for deep technical knowledge. If my server belongs to Amazon or Scaleway with Yundera, isn't it the same?
Why shouldn't I just buy an AWS server?
Absolutely.
Yundera provides the same level of security as Amazon AWS, Scaleway or any other providers —because we use their infrastructure. However, we go further by carefully selecting providers based on security, environmental impact, efficiency, and pricing.
Here's the key difference:
- AWS and Scaleway servers are powerful, but setting them up requires technical expertise. You need to configure networking, SSH keys, security policies, and more.
- Yundera removes that complexity. We act as the bridge, making server setup effortless, so you get all the benefits of a secure cloud without needing deep technical knowledge.
- Unlike Google Cloud, where you rent space on Google’s infrastructure, with Yundera, you actually own the server itself. You’re not just a tenant in someone else's system—you have full control over your virtual environment.
A server is your gateway to total digital independence. It's like having your own digital home, a place where your files, apps, and services live under your control. With a server, you're no longer dependent on corporations to store and manage your data.
Here's what you can do with Yundera:
• Store and share files securely with open-source tools like Nextcloud
• Stream your own media with apps like Jellyfin (like Netflix, but you control the library)
• Host your website with WordPress or Silex
• Run your own AI tools like Mistral, Llama, or Deepseek for personal or business use
• Create a private VPN for secure browsing with OpenVPN
• Host video game servers for games like Minecraft, Terraria, or any other custom game server
• Avoid the restrictions of Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud by achieving complete data sovereignty
Yundera makes it easy for anyone to host and maintain their own server, even if you're not tech-savvy.
No, and here’s why:
✅ You Own the Server, Not Just a Storage Space – Unlike traditional cloud services where you rent a portion of their infrastructure, with Yundera, you own the full virtual server. The provider supplies the hardware, but they have no access to what’s inside. For example with Google Cloud, Google controls both the hardware and the data, so they can access it. With Yundera, you own your virtual server. Server providers provides the infrastructure, but they cannot access the data inside your Yundera Personal Cloud Servers
✅ Strict Data Isolation – Your server operates independently. Even though it's hosted on external infrastructure, the provider cannot see, modify, or extract your data.
✅ Encryption & Security by Default – Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, meaning no one—not even the infrastructure provider—can read your files.
✅ Protected by Global Privacy Regulations – Our approach aligns with strict data protection laws, including:
- GDPR (Europe) – Ensures full control over your personal data.
- CCPA (California, USA) – Prevents unauthorized data access or selling.
- PDPA (Asia) – Strong privacy policies for data protection.
- ISO 27001, SOC 2 Compliance – Guarantees that hosting providers follow industry-leading security standards.
With Yundera, your data is fully isolated, protected, and under your exclusive control—no exceptions. 🚀
